    Artist History
The entity known as Bishop Montgomery Football started late in the fall of 1998. The band came about at a local party when four guys decided to pick-up instruments they didn’t know how to play and played with all their hearts. What was an ear-splintering joke soon became a five piece, and local favorite consisting of: Jason Anderson –Guitar, Christian Johnson-Vocals, Aaron Empsall-Guitar, Jesse Weegens-Bass, and Adam Woods-Drums. With no-holds-barred energy “Bishop” dazzeled crowds with flipping, flopping, screaming, a two foot mohawk……and a dismal amount of musical talent. There was no end to the carnage……or was there? After guiding the group to respectability, founding member and leader Jason Anderson (ex-Squad Five-O), took the summer off to tour with Takehold Records’ 238. It was decided at some time during that fatefull summer that there would be one last Bishop Montgomery Football show. This decision stemmed from Jason’s choice to move to Denver in pursuit of other interests. (ball and chain) Christian chose to make the move to Denver with him and it seemed all was lost. Following three months of life without metal, the surving members realized they were now nobodies and decided to go after round two. Jesse and Aaron switched to their natural weapons which are guitar, and bass respectivly. Adam stepped forward and took over vocal duties. Add Chris Byrne, an aspiring drummer of 15, and the metal is reborn. During the months that followed “Bishop” pulled together with lots of hard work to become a viable force in the local scene. Everyday the band is together they seem to become better and the sky is the limit. In the summer of 2000 the band record a demo using a friend’s 8 track. Since then most songs have undergone drastic changes to a brutal, semi-mathmatical musical force. The vision of the band is to break the boundries, and pre-monitions of heavy. Because of our relative youth and inexperience, we get better everyday. With each new day comes new ideas and new material. We are a band that plays metalcore. We won’t dodge the genre. Even so, we listen to a vast scope of music and I think it all adds it’s own part in our sound. We play what we enjoy and don’t limit ourselves by trying to fit others’ idea of what we should be. Live, we play our hearts out. This is what we enjoy more than anything else. It is not uncommon to see bellyflops, nosedives, broken guitars, busted snare drums, or a flaming vocalist. Being named after a football team doesn’t seem quite as odd after watching us perform.

    Press Reviews
Excerpts taken from “Cool Rain Wins the Band Battle” printed in the Arkansas Traveler As winds swirled across the lawns of Old Main, local bands mixed their style with the hourly chimes from Old Main’s bell tower at the battle of the bands…..The cold wind may have bothered some of the performers.……One judge, wishing to remain unnamed, thought the weather could have effected the perfomers. “Some singers where quite out of tune from the rest of the band,” the judge said. “Most bands were good, though, except for Bishop Montgomery Football who needs to find another career besides music.”
