Artist description
Qwire is a Silicon Valley musical group whose members seek to combine their varied musical backgrounds in inventive ways. Their mutual interest in exploring the boundaries of electronic music and composition led them all to the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford University, where Qwire was formed in 1993. Fusing jazz, rock and experimental music, Qwire's current repertoire ranges from "Miles", a tribute to Miles Davis, to "Local On", a free interactive exploration. The band explores various avenues of interaction by making extensive use of technology including digital interfaces and live sampling. |

Press Reviews
CMJ review at http://www.ninestones.com/qwire/qwirereview.html Excerpt from CMJ: "This fresh and lucid album is a must-listen for those who are interested in fusion and jazz. Qwire defines a unique space that might be described as a cross between the styles of Shakti, Frank Zappa, and John Zorn, with an ethnic funkiness, a hint of techno, and a healthy dose of experimentation." |
