Artist description
What is destined to become a new era in rock-n-roll has begun. With the resurgence of older rock-n-roll standards, Jonas Ridge has blended raw-edged, modern electric rock with heart-driven, top-forty style ballads to create a style all their own. Combining lyrics written as if from the heart of a poet with performances that showcase the integrity of true musicians. Jonas Ridge really pulls you in and holds you there. Citing influences ranging from the Beatles to Soundgarden, this new sound creates a hybrid of modern music that is a real and welcome alternative to the monotony that sets the tone of rock-n-roll today. |

Artist History
In 1994, guitarist Jon Byrd and longtime friend, bassist Tony Hawkins, members of the now-defunct Mercury recording artist, Copperhead, decided to leave that band behind and pursue another direction. After an unsuccessful attempt in a band called Drivin' Blind, Jon and Tony once again joined forces and soon located local vocal favorite, Jason Davis. Jason had gained popularity in the Western North Carolina area in such bands as J.D. Black and Jedroads. Jason, who's soulful voice has been likened to Bob Seger and John Cougar Mellencamp, fit the bill easily. Awhile later, they found West Virginia native, Okey Parsons. Okey blindly relocated to North Carolina and would become the member to round out the line-up of Jonas Ridge. Okey list influences such as Living Colour, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin and Rush, or just about any other groove-oriented music as having created his unique but powerful drum style. Now the four radically different personalities began writings. What emerged became the band's first album. Finally, Jonas Ridge was formed and has grown to become one of the most well-respected groups of musicians in the Southeast. In 1998, the band released its self-titled debut album. The compilation was recorded at Triclops Studios and was mixed at Tree Studios in Atlanta, GA, under the musical expertise of veteran producer/engineer, Rodney Mills. Mr. Mills gained much acclaim in the industry for his work with some of the world's most influential artists, such as The Allman Brothers, Gregg Allman, Journey, .38 Special and The Doobie Brothers, just to name a few. Since their involvement with Rodney Mills, the band has recently relocated their base from Western North Carolina, their home, to Atlanta, GA.The band has joined forces with Rodney Mills to record their second effort also. It has been very well received by the fans and press alike. Recently, the new material has started to attract record industry attention. Jonas Ridge has alot to offer anyone who appreciates good solid songwriting, great music and intense performances. |
