Press Reviews Dr. Robert R. Perkinson and Angela Kaufman, Canton, began singing as a couple five years ago and just recently completed a CD of their music as the praise band, "God Talks."The CD consists of fifteen songs, composed by Robert, with musical contributions from group members Shane Perkinson on vocals and trumpet, Sandi Chocholousek on flute and auxiliary percussion, Jay Waltner on bass guitar, Kevin Gross on guitar, James Brady on drums, and sound technician, Jayme Lohrenz. Shane graduated from Canton High School last year while the rest of the members are from Sioux Falls. Shane began singing with them after moving back to Canton and he rest of the group, said Angela, and just "evolved". "The group evolved "as a God thing," she commented. "We just decided if God wants us to have a drummer, he'd show up and he did." The overall vision of the group and their music also 'concentrates on the "God thing. "Robert, the Clinical Director at Keystone Treatment Center says, "In 1990, God came into my life and said he was calling me into action to tell people that He was talking and to show them how to listen."Robert went into action, writing a book called, "God Talks" prior to the formation of the praise band and the group's first CD. The group has performed locally at St. Dominic Catholic Church as well as at the Canton Lutheran and Canton United Methodist churches. The group generally begins their concerts with a quiet time and prayer asking the audience to listen to God. "The thing I encourage people to do," commented Robert "is to try to make conscious contact with God's voice. It's in your own head. A part of your own mind, and it's always there."The music covers a variety of styles from old rock and roll to Jamaican, calypso to country, and even an acapella choral piece. Robert has written in the neighborhood of 100 songs.
