Artist History
Bob Baldwin won the 1989 Sony Innovators Award selected by Roberta Flack. Her approval of the music drew attention to Atlantic Records where he recorded 2 cd's, "Rejoice" and "Reflections of Love" in 1990 and 1992. "Reflections", which featured Marion Meadows, Will Downing, Grover Washington, Jr. and the late Noel Pointer. In 1995, Baldwin went underground and began to find other means to marketing his music. n 1993, he recorded, "State of Mind", but never released those recordings. In 1996, he sold "City Sketches I" over the internet and at live performances. Neither recording made the retail stores, but will be releasing in the Y2k. In 1997, Baldwin released, "Cool Breeze", a smooth jazz offering which featured saxman Marion Meadows and guitarist Larry Coryell. His hit single, "Summer Breeze" smoked up the charts to a top 10 Gavin spot in 1998. The band opened up for Will Downing in 1988 and enjoyed additional success as a result. Bob recently performed as a sideman for the Jazz Explosion tour (Will Downing, Vesta, Phil Perry and Gerald Albright). That was a huge success as they performed in 21 cities in 24 days to over 60,000 jazz fans. Bob is now working on the national releases of "State of Mind" and "City Sketches" as well as his latest effort, which will be out sometime in the year 2000. Bob still continues to find innovative ways to record, promote and release his music to the public and hopes to be doing so for the next several years. Go to http://www.citysketches.com/bio.htm |
