Artist History
The Civilians' history is hard to make brief, but it starts with songwriting. The partnership that exists now between vocalist/guitarist Matt Broyles & drummer/vocalist Jeff Simms began in 1991 under the guise of The Average Deep. This Weatherford, Texas-based band is no one you've heard of, but it did spawn a certain brand of melodic song creation that would eventually create The Civilians. All it took was a couple of newspaper ads in the right place, & from the mists of D/FW came guitarist/vocalist Ron Geida & bassist/vocalist Layne McConnell. Together they've managed to create the ultra-tight unit that brings these songs to life. With the successful release of a four-song EP this February, they seem to be poised for bigger things. |
