Artist History The history of NYARLATHOTEP is, much like the entity from which the project takes its name, disturbingly amorphous and ruthlessly contradictory. Did howard.phillips.LOVECRAFT truly die in 1937 or is the legend promulgated by the band--that his disembodied brain was preserved intact and functional long after the death of his corpus inside a stasis cylinder produced by the alien Mi-Go (a.k.a., the Fungi from Yuggoth [Pluto])--in fact reality? What events led to the Mi-Go's supposed abandonment of LOVECRAFT's neurologix in the backyard of Pennsylvanian electronic classicist derek.cf.PEGRITZ? Furthermore, is it true that PEGRITZ persuaded LOVECRAFT to abandon fiction and instead collaborate with PEGRITZ on bringing his visions of cosmic alienation and horrific atmospherics to life via music rather than print? What led jeremy.LONG to join the infenal collaboration in 2000, the much-vaunted yet strangely disappointing inaugural year of the Third Milennium? Who are the multitude of other "musicians" who frequently contribute their talents and noises to the production of NYARLATHOTEP's eerie sound? These are all questions which bear further investigation...though the curious are warned that pursuit of such eldritch lore could very well threaten their sanity as well as the continued integrity of the local spacetime continuum.
