Artist History
Lypswitch played their first show in L.A. at Gazzarri's on April 17th, 1988. By January of 1989, Lypswitch had created a huge buzz around town and showcased for MCA Records. It would be the first of many performances for the label. In July MCA gave the band a demo deal with a budget of $5000. The band was quickly picked up by Future Star management and entered the studio with producer Ricky Delena (Kiss, Rod Stewart, Iron Maiden) to record a 3 song demo. Due to personnel changes at MCA, the band was never signed. There was still interest in the band and Lypswitch made another recording in December with producers Alex Woltman and Elliot Solomon (Motley Crue, WASP, etc.) The one song demo of "Rattlesnake Skin" helped create more buzz about the band and KNAC radio picked it up for local airplay. 1989 is the year that Lypswitch really established themselves locally, each show the band played was sold out at this point and the hangers on began to hang. Everything that had been worked for was getting closer in sight, the rollercoaster ride was about to begin... |
