Dave Matthews Band, Sting, Steely Dan, Michael Penn, David Gray, Paganini
    Artist History
Unusually adept musicians dead serious but god do we have fun. Collaborative & democratic. Every rehearsal's a pleasure. Started with a reggae bent, sidetracked into self-conscious radio rock, now everything from your little sister's comfort rock to straight ahead jazz to covering a Paganini concerto to esoteric timbale-loop driven musical extravaganzas gliding from 5/4 to 7/4 to 4/4 to 3/4 to - god help us - 10/4 time signatures, all within a single song...

Varujan - violin. Hotshot session musician, classical composer, Paganini lover, ex-Army Ranger, ex-globe-trotting photojournalist, rarely admits & less-often actually works as an attorney... Jenni Carter - backing vocals, percussion. Spanking new KOKOmember, lucky to have her. Dedication & talent galore. Around-town vocalist & heartthrob. Check out her own page on mp3.com: great-sounding songs. Someday we'll be her personal assistants. Anna Stafford - backing vocals, 2nd violin, keys, percussion. What other rock band lists a 2nd violinist?? Our other happy-to-have-her new addition. Scooped her up 3 weeks after she moved to LA (June, 2003), ink still wet on her Masters in Composition. The girl was performing as a singer in a feature film (real one) within her first month in LA - ok so it was performing with KOKOPELLI but it was days after her audition & without a single band rehearsal - still, a good phone call to mom. We expect great things from young Anna. Check out a string quartet of hers at her mp3.com page. Taki - bass (and guitar whenever it's too tough a part for Scott). The most talented one. Boxing Gandhis & FORM bassist, toured with Pat Benatar (must've been 15 yrs old at the time). Berklee grad (admitted 2 years after first touching a musical instrument). Composing credits include indie films & Japanese TV. Ex-piano mover. Call him - he'll play anything for $200/show... Bruce Zelesnik - the one with the stories. Plucked from smalltown Illinois by Miles Copeland & signed to IRS when young & tender (2nd band signed by Miles - after The Police). Several US & world tours opening for The Police. Member of ole MCA worldbeat band Worldwise. Also Stan Ridgway's drummer. Composing credits include way-cool movies... Fondly remembered ex-KOKOmembers include: Chris Rice, Gary Pavlica, Mike Swain, Ted Moriguchi, Mor Koren, Maya Haddi, Tiffany Austin, Lena Katz, Dane Calcone.
    Instruments
Lead & backing vocals, keys, guitar, string section (ok, 2 violins but damn that sounds good), occassional mandolin, bass, percussion, BZ's deranged loops, drum kit.

    CDs galore
    Press Reviews
"They're so good!" - Scott's mom... "Bass player's pretty good." - Scott's brother... "Wow! You guys are awesome! You should wear leather pants though." - anonymous Casting Director... "As long as your backing singer keeps wearing those plastic pants I'll keep coming." - Gary Pavlica... "My god you guys are so much better than I expected - will you cover 'Brandy' for our soundtrack?" - film producer Andrea Michaud... "Kokopelicious!" - passing vagabond
