Artist description
When life imitates art. What is real and what's make believe. With Jetta Black the fine line is blurred. Our function is to relieve society of all their ills. To attract you to that which repulses you. The endorphin rush between pleasure & pain. When we started out, people would say, 'Are you Goth, Glam, Metal or Industrial?'. We were all that & more, so it made it really hard to get members. You're allowed to eat steak & cheese cake. With the image thing, well all bands have an image. Some are more easily digestible than others. We think of the image thing, like the music is the gift & the make-up & clothes are like the wrapping paper. It's the backdrop for the sound track. With Jetta Black, we wanted to be the alternative to the alternative. We didn't want to play gigs, we wanted to play concerts. And believe me when I say this train of thought came with a cost, both personal & financially. It's hard enough to slap on pair of jeans and a tee shirt, turn on your Marshall stack & play good music, let a lone trying to put a multimedia concert with so any variables. But one must be true to ones self and we endeavour to push the boundaries of music. Remember that its not how big your dick is, but how big your balls are. |

Artist History
Rising from the ashes of the 80's Ultra Glam Metal outfit, PINK CHAMPANGE, Dannii and Robert Paris gave birth to JETTA BLACK. After numerous unsuccessful line-up changes from 1991 to 1993, Jetta Black finally had a strong line-up. This consisted of Glenn, on guitar (formally of The Dizzy Dollz, which Robert played with, as a fill in drummers for a couple of months), MyKill K. (bass guitar, MyKill played guitar in previous line-ups), Andy O on keyboards (Andy also played in previous line-ups). This line up recorded a cover of the Sister Smack song, 'White Dove'. Soon after Julian joined the band as second guitarist. Glenn left late 93 to become a founding member of the Retro Glam band, Platinum Blakk. In October 1993, Jetta Black played it first trial show at Newton, to a number of close friends (video available). In January of 94, Jetta Black played to a full house 500 plus crowd at Kinselas, in Darlinghurst (video available). In March of 94, Julian left to pursue other interests & was replaced by Shannon Barrett. In October 1994, Jetta Black recorded the their vampire love song, Love Unbound. This appears on 'Images of my Underworld Vol #2' for the Horror Show label. Early 1995, the band went into Troy Horse studios in Redfern to record 'Lets Play a Game' and covered David Bowie's 'Scary Monsters'. These two tracks would be remixed a 301 studios in Sydney at a later date. Dissatisfied with current sounds, Dannii & Robert started to toy with the idea of more electronica sounds. In 1996, MyKill left the group due to family commitments. After a time of experimentation with new sounds, Dannii, Robert, Shannon & Andy went to 301 and re-recorded Lets Play a Game (RESURRECTION & TranceDecendDance Mixes). The Resurrection Remix was used as the base for the DOG MACHINE Remix. The Dog Machine Remix was done by Lawrence English & Kraig Wilson of the Queensland's Industrial Goth outfit Dog Machine. This remix appears on 'Images of my Underworld Vol #3' for the Horror Show label, which was released in 1998. In March of 1999, Shannon left the band. Dannii & Robert are currently working on new material & auditioning applicants for a new line up. |

Press Reviews
JETTA BLACK does for the flesh, what Ferrari does for metal. -MAKE IT HOT!. A gothic-glam techno punk mash of screaming blue noise. Engulfing layers of synthesis coated in a pulsating backbeat of bass and drums. Sounds that seem to transcend and defy traditional audibility. These gender bending designer techno junkies pull out all the stops with their take no prisoner's attitude when it comes to live shows. Leaving little for the imagination. An information overload of light and sound. Cascading T.V. screens, mind altering lighting , piercing samples, all dancing to hypnotic bass, drums, melodic vocoder vocals and over processed guitar synths. This is future pop. |
