Artist History
Patrick Damphier and Brent Coleman, childhoodfriends, formed the first incarnation of this band, First Hand Smoke, in which Coleman playedthe drums, God knows why, and Damphier playedguitar and sang, god it was awful. They picked up Mike Moberg on bass and played a couple of shows, talent shows, the Bellevue Station in Nashville. Then, withPatrick switching to drums, and Brent to lead guitar, they sought out local shitty-at-the-time vocalist BarryDonegan, who handled the lead vocals for a week orso until he met his untimely death in a serial working accident. Then they went to his similar looking and sounding cousin, Azel Spears, notoriouswildman, things happener, and avid public-nudityenthusiast. They played a few more shows under thesame name before they fired Mike Moberg(yes, a blackthing) and then acquired Evan "Longstrokes" Brewerfor the battery role. They also filled out the guitarsound with "The General" Jason Scroggins. After a few more shows, they went to the studio to begin recording the album, at which point the name "pointof you?" was born. It was then discovered that a fan from Vermouth, SD was auctioning original singer, Barry Donegan, still alive and in near-mint condition on E-Bay.com. The guys bought him for a lofty two and a half dollars, firing immediately Azel Spears for their old original frontman. They thenfired Jason Granstaff for stage presence problems. Eventually musical differences caused Brent Coleman and Patrick Damphier to leave the band, leading to the addition of Colby Shea(guitar), Evan's cousin, and Noah Darling. Noah left to join local band SubMethod, and the squad picked up notorious inventive hard hitter Dylan Napier for the drum work. |
