Artist History
Once upon a time, Kevin McLaughlin began to write songs. And when a man appeared on a flaming pie to say, "Leave Providence BeforeThe Mafia Separates Your Arms From Your Body," he came to Oregon. Karen Roberts spoke to the Big Bad Wolf in her native California and he said, "Your future awaits you in Oregon, and so she went. Karen and Kevin met in Portland under the halo of John and Yoko to love themselves and each other; Buddha Beatnik was born an only child. John Brett the vet left his native Arizona with his lovely wife Donna Marie, moving to Portland to answer an ad for a drummer(for an eclectic rock band) and when he did, Buddha Beatnik became that much more whole. Borfus Wallaby, having become a guitar god at an early age, left the midwest to bless us all with music and thought and stumbled upon the same Buddha Beatnik ad; Buddha Beatnik became one. Then they all realized what a gift they had for writing, recording, performing and being really happy together, so together they are still, Kevin on bass and vocals, Karen on vocals and percussion, John on drums and vocals and Borfus on guitar, keyboards and vocals.
