WEST COAST SOUND WITH SOUTHERN INFLUENCE (Social Gangsta)
    Artist History
Hip-Hop veteran, hard-edged lyricist, super producer, Al-C, ascends now toeven greater heights in ’99. He has gained high recognition in the NorthwestHip-Hop scene where he has won acclaim to titles such as the “Super-Producer”for his tight track, Roll With The Punches and “Best Solo M.C.” for his cut, How Could a Ruff Neck in the DJ Sound Wars in 1992 as well as selling over2500 copies alone in the Portland market for his freshmen release “AL SEE THE WHOLE SH!T” in 1997. Al-C entered the world of hip-hop as a young boy in the south developing his stage presence by entering dance contests. Indigenous to Montgomery, Alabama,Al-C combines a southern soulful energy with a West Coast streetvibe, in his own EvreDark Production Studio, based in Portland,Oregon. Feeling his vision, Al-C incorporates song writing, producing, and designing graphics into a full time career. Al-C supplies explosive hard-cuttin' beats to several Portland, Seattle, Atlanta, Detroit, and Alabama rappers. When he is not in the studio he out campaigning his passion, his own indie label; A Black Clan Records.Al-C takes his business seriously!!! Overcoming obstacles with increased determination, Al-C carries A Black Clan Records into the new millennium keeping it real, as a true playa would. ’99 promises to elevate Al-C, with his sophomore project, “GO IN BROKE”, an EP released in June ’99, that features DUCK, DJ CHILL, MITT NITTY, and KYM. The eight track EP is highly anticipated by fans, fellow-rappers, and radio DJ’s alike. The first single, “FO GET DAT,” is already accompanied with an innovative music video, puttin’ Portland on the map. Currently, an earlier version of first single was released in ’98 on a nationally distributed compilation CD- “HELL IN THE ATL” featuring artists Who You Callin’ Country, Quarter and ½, and Strick 9 on Tandem Entertainment, that was distributed by the former Ichiban Records and has been seen on "Insomnia TV" Video show all over Canada. His second release, GO IN BROKE, the title cut, shows brothers Al-C and DUCK breakin’ into the ‘Rap Industry National Bank’; this allegorically portrays their perspective on the rap side of the music industry. Some lyricists exhaust themselves ‘fakin' jacks’, claimin’ they keepin’ it real, experiencing treacherous delusions of stardom. Al-C and Duck are in the industry to be heard, not to get rich quick or to taste a minute of fame; as Duck’s lyrics in Go In Broke explains: “I don’t care sh!t about you no more than a rusty rats azz, and yo rusty fast cash, if you ain’t up in this mutha f*$#@ to last.” While Al-C declares: “ I’m in this deal for the feel fa real.” Al-C teaches his brothas “ya betta stack first nigga, and talk shit later...It’s like an f%ckin’ avalanche the way we comin’ down on this paper.” Keepin’ his feet on the ground, Al-C contends the game. Other cuts off the EP also come with pro-found metaphoric phrases, kickin’ knowledge, while weaving in and out of those head-bobbin’ deep phunk base lines. Al-C describes A Black Clan’s versatility, “I’m trying to have every style of west coast phunk and hip-hop as well as some east coast joints, were it all started...I’m trying to cover all bases and styles-the real hip-hop.” Appealing to all the regions of rap, A Black Clan executes its destiny of bringin’ all true playas together. Look for AL-C to release late Spring withhis new album "FULL TIME HUSTLA".
