    Artist History
Michael Bell, a.k.a. NumberOneWorld, began his career over 20 years ago. In various configurations he has performed both jazz and pop music all of his adult life. As a busker he travelled Canada coast to coast, as a glam rock performer he fronted Toronto sensations EyeEye during the mid eighties. (The band was to win the Q107 Homegrown Contest, only months after forming). He tried his hand as a tribute, imitating David Bowie on the Ontario A-club circuit... But a decade ago, he came off the road to write and demo a wealth of new tunes, as well as begin publishing a regional music/society magazine 'The Wire Megazine'. (In market for 11 years)As the years passed he gathered a host of musicians around him and began performing in support of some of Canada's hottest pop/rock performers including Amanda Marshall, Kim Mitchell, 54-40, Colin James, Matthew Good and dozens more....he also pioneered his area's first homegrown contests and recordings as well as organized and promoted a number of major music festivals, including the Amnesty International Freedom Fest in 1998. Well versed in both the artistic, performance and business sides of the music industry Mb is ready to emerge as one of the clever new sounds of the new millenium.

-Damn, but this guy combines a lot of styles and influences! A little Wall of Voodoo, some Roxy Music -- and somehow he managed to remind me of Roy Orbison and Bjork at the same time. (And I love those chainsaws.) There's just about everything here but zydeco! Review by Randy aka Zoolophone -Here's an artist that loves to swerve from one extreme to another on that windy road of popular music. From Jazzy crooning to wavey wailing, from folky thoughtfullness to bar-room attitude, NumberoneWorld always has a firm grip on the wheel ....loads of talent, plenty of charm...good intuitive songwriting!!! Tim Trenner INTRO MAGAZINE. -One word sums up this artist/site: SLICK. David Bowie fans hurry, hurry, hurry step right up! 'If a tree falls', and 'How the world began' are strong cuts.
