Press Reviews
No Ambition Has High Ambition to Entertain. By Amber Sheldon-Features Editor. A couple of weeks ago, sometime before noon, the sounds of rock music may have filtered through the walls of the room you were in. If you liked what you heard then the band you should know is No Ambition. No Ambition will be performing at the Harvest Moon Masquerade Ball on Oct. 29th. Their CD will be on sale at the dance. After seeing the band live with their high energy and explosive stage presence you might just want to buy two. If you would like to know more about No Ambition, then you can check out their website at http://noambition.homepage.com/, or email them at noambition@hotmail.com. The group has only been together for about 4 months. They have received plenty of positive feedback and support for their first effort. No Ambition’s self-titled debut CD consists of 10 songs.“Today” or “One of These Days” will be their first single. Marshal Haupt plays bass in the band and is also a student at Solano Community College. The other members include Joel Rydman who sings and plays rhythm guitar, Joe Webb on guitar, and Jeff Rydman on drums. They describe their sound as a mix of alternative rock, pop, and punk. Their sound is very original, and it’s hard to compare them to any one band though they say the Gin Blossoms and the Counting Crows come fairly close. Marshal, Joel, Joe, and Jeff were inspired to become a band from listening to Dinosaur Jr., Van Halen, and MXPX among others. Though some songs may exhibit ties to their influences, the music is very much their own sound. The Tempest – Wednesday, October 6, 1999. Ambitionless college rock does not attempt to mix Funk, jazz or metal with their modern rock sound, happily settling for straight-up melodic Alternative with a touch of Ska. - Jesse T., Listen.Com |
