Artist History
VoidWare productions and the marquee outfit, KALEID, are Rod Richardson. BE AWARE, other artists you may enjoy have assumed the name Kaleid after VoidWare began publishing it, and after it was first distributed by Silent and Cargo in the early nineteen-nineties. ALSO NOTE Cargo, a few years later, even distributed another electronic gig bearing the same pronunciation, Collide. Enough disclaimer garbage. Fortunately, new media technology such as MP3 allows listeners the chance to buy exactly what they heard and not what they remember hearing about. Richardson has released an intriguing discography that ranges from archaeological trip-hop, to abrassive living ambient soundscapes the likes of the one hour trip through the industrial ambience of downtown Chicago via bicycle, "Zen and the Surveillance of Bicycle Messengering". While recent production has equally touched down on more traditional themes of rock as well as producing the jazz quartet, Darkk Bros., his most inspired work seems to be rooted in the relationship of Zen prose and Quantum theory applied to that layman on a bicycle, per se. "The Mysterious Hub Tour" is the sequel to "...The Surveillance..." CD. Yojimbo's Garage, a favorite bike shop among couriers, sponsors the celebration of this grand daddy of extreme sport. Its a unique, eclectic blend of over 18 Chicago bands including Capital D and Rude 1 of All Natural, Alkaline Trio, Darkk Bros., Pruno, Mental Insect, Slink Moss, Disarray and KALEID. As well, the CD features 18 additional surveillance (or) found sound tracks including building implosions, the bicycle harp and horses. Confused? You're not alone...Enjoy the ride. Proceed with caution. Welcome to the Void! |

He sings like a 70's Brian Eno over phat beats, swirling synths and washes of samples." Listen.com "undeniably represents the future of ambient music" Illinois Entertainer(BAM) "fast, faster...practically a blur" Chicago Tribune |
