Artist History
Steve has been playing guitar in church and performing since 1970. He was heavily involved in youth camps and retreats by utilizing his musical talents as well as his leadership abilities. In 1976 he joined a midwest traveling band called The Followers of the Way. FOW travelled to mostly smaller towns to give workshops and seminars on the Christian life. There was often a concert setting during either a Friday or Saturday night, and the weekend wrapped up by the band playing for the church's Sunday service. Steve has played in several secular bands throughout his career. Most noteable, he was the lead guitarist for Ace Rival a rock and roll show band in the mid '80s. Currently, Steve is playing every Sunday at Canyon Creek Community Church and giving concerts at churches around the Phoenix area. |

Press Reviews
Broken Records Sept '98 - Steve Cass calls Phoenix, Arizona home. This is Steve's debut album, and with it comes a unique blend of acoustic guitar music that ranges from folk and classical fingerstyles, to latin and acoustic rock. Through this apparent collage, Steve, who co-produced his project, blends each tune so the whole package is unmistakably his own style. From up-tempo to ballads, his wonderful fingerstyle and flatpicking is as much a testimony as his lyrics to his passion for God. The message he sends through his arrangements is clearly of devotion. This project is simply wonderful. If you are a guitar lover, you will love Steve's album! CMC Award, Dec '98 - The guitar work on this project is a step beyond excellent. Steve Cass is a singer/songwriter out of the Phoenix, Arizona area. Wisdom is his debut CD, and is probably best characterized as Praise & Worship mixed with Christian folk...The guitar work throughout this whole project is a step beyond excellent, and the musical arrangements professional and polished. That superb musicianship is revealed on Under The Son. The guitar is very enjoyable, and the percussion gives this a Latin feel...If Glorify is any indication of Steve's songwriting abilities, the Lord must be truly blessed listening to his heart as well as his voice...Steve reminds me in many ways of Paul Williams -- a decent vocalist, but remarkably talented as a songwriter and musician. The creative guitar licks are ones that you'll happily listen to over and over again. Steve is obviously a studied and talented musician. His artistic guitar work is some of the best I've heard. If you are a singer looking for fresh material, or a music lover seeking a peaceful CD, Wisdom is it. |
