Artist History
Have been writing lyrics since high school(I am now of the ripe old age of 25) and playing guitar for 5 years(2 yrs of it serious). Hopefully the next CD will be more hardcore and guitar-driven. Was in a basement band for half a year and played a few open mics but nothing spectacular came out of it. |

Press Reviews
I listened to Rick Cox and I'll tell you, I'm glad I did. I actually downloaded your stuff twice! I have a temporary folder that deleted the songs the first time I downloaded them, so I had to do it again. I think you are an exceptional lyricist. Are you a poet as well? You music is sparce and uncomplicated... both the vocals and guitars... and this serves nicely to draw the listener's attention to the lyrics which are the real prize here. Middle Class Frustration has that cool line "don't wanna cry at speeches of shame" which really struck me. And Hopeful was especially touching. "Shivers upon shivers", "product of my own neglect"... you know how to turn a phrase! Hopeful was my favorite. I'll go back and listen to some of your other lyrics. Thanks for the exchange***Byeonara! Robin H Farren Rick has very original guitar work and could go far. The guy's young and has a bright future! Keep up the great work Rick! "God's Gold" Experimental guitar work that's stripped down and cooool! Kind of a rambling feel - good listen on a summers afternoon. "Hopeful" Buzzy slides and mystical leads give this one a 60's flashback to more eastern sounds. With the right production this could be a real interesting track. "Throw You (Down The River)" Driving rhythms and almost bluesy elements here. Kind of a cyclic progression that could go well with a tight rhythm section. "Middle Class Frustration" A little Americana style here! Enjoyed the intro very much! This track has the most potential. My favorite. "The Cyclone" Again we have some great guitar work and potential if produced right! Check out Rick's acoustic wonderland! Joe Dorsey |
