Artist History Manchester based PABLO formed in the January of 96, whilst studying for degrees in Popular Music and Recording at Salford University. The song-writing partnership of Rob Long and Lee Turner had already written over 100 songs in ‘95 and the best of these were picked, rehearsed and gigged until their distinctive harmonic pop began captivating audiences in and around Manchester, making them the talk of the City.In the Summer of '96, PABLO pulled off a magnificent performance in front of 50,000 people at Rock FM's 'Party in the Park', playing with LET LOOSE and the SPICE GIRLS, who at the time, were enjoying chart success with their first single 'WANNABE'. PABLO's set was hailed as ". . . . one of the highlights of the festival", and saw the bands' fan base escalate dramatically. The latter half of '96 saw PABLO winning BBC Radio's unsigned band of the year, and playing numerous live dates supporting MARION, AUDIOWEB and MANSUN at venues around the North West. The band also ventured to London for the first time, where they played THE ORANGE CLUB + ROCK GARDEN to very receptive audiences.Recording duties followed which resulted in a small deal with an independent label. Their first single is the 4-track 'MISTER TWISTER e.p.' was released in June of 1998, and they subsequently supported Australian pop giants SAVAGE GARDEN on the U.K. leg of their World Tour.
