And, as if that were not enough, to top it all off, this wailing power is supported and sometimes surpassed by the thunderous backbeat of Maxxxwell's thumping bass and drummer Whiskey "Goddam" Skins' masterful drumlines, loose and tight, all at the same time (throw in some wetness and we can all relate). Artist History At a time when pop was dominated by dance music and hip-pop rock, Maxxx brought raw, ugly rock & roll crashing back into the charts. They were not nice boys; nice boys don't play rock & roll. They were ugly, misogynist, violent; they were also funny, vulnerable, and occasionally sensitive, as their break through hit "Spread Eagle" showed. With songs like "The Battle of Man" and "Rockin' All Night (Is Never Enough)" under their arms and hit a new hit album called "MaXXX Rated" coming out in just a few weeks, Maxxxwell Maxxx and co. have the music world in the palms of their hands. While A.C. Devine and Mickey Maxxx ferociously spit out dueling guitar riffs worthy of Aerosmith or the Stones, Maxxxwell screeches out his tales of sex, drugs, and apathy in the big city; drummer Whiskey Skins is a limber rhythm section that keeps the music loose and powerful. Maxxx's music was basic and gritty, with a solid hard, bluesy base; they were dark, sleazy, dirty, and honest -- everything that good hard rock and heavy metal should be.
