Artist History
'After 10.30' is Mary's first solo album. Guitarist Steven Flaherty accompanies Mary on all tracks and bassist Kevin Glynn on two tracks.'After 10.30' might be her first solo album but it is not her first album. In 1989 Mary brought out an album with bouzouki player Eoin O'Neill calling it 'With Help From Our Firends'. This album included guests like Sharon Shannon,Micho Russell,Kevin Griffin and Terry Bingham. Mary and Eoin went on to make a second album in 1991 called 'The Ways Of The World' which included a different selection of guests; Steve Wickham,Davey Spillane,Tommy Hayes and 'Bushplant'. In 1994 Mary formed her own band and released an album in 1995 simply called 'The Mary Custy Band'. The line up of the band being; fiddle, electric bass, electric guitar and drums. Mary has performed with her band at festivals in the U.S. like 'The Millwaukee Irish Fest' and 'The San Francisco Music Fest'. She has also played in New York and Boston and has toured all over England and Ireland. Between 1993 and 1995 Mary was a member of 'The Sharon Shannon band' and has appeared on all of her albums. She has also toured with Nancy Griffith and appears on her album'Other Voices Too' which was released in 1998. 'After 10.30' is a late evening, late night laid back duskish kind of album, modern and bright with remaining shadows. It was recorded at 'Harmony Row Studios' in Ennis, mainly in the evening! The title of the album comes from a beautiful piece of music composed by Steven Flaherty. Though modern, the music on this album is traditional in nature. |
