Artist History "Light the Candles" started as an original Christmas poem written by Utica, NY High School Teacher Pamela Vona. Her niece, Maria DeIorio, composed and recorded the song on the piano and self-released it as a single in upstate New York last year. It instantly garnered major attention from several local radio stations in Central New York, including KISS 102FM, and became one of the most requested Christmas songs of the season. Aside from her musical endeavors, Maria DeIorio is also an elementary school teacher in upstate New York.
