Artist History
Formed in the summer of 1998, Karma Parade is constant change and growth. They learned that longevity is the key for musical growth. Original members Trey Cook and Ken Barnes formed the band with Don Dalton as a folk sound rehearsing in Don's apartment and a storage room. Russell "Wooka" Everett joined on drums and David Hewitt joined on bass to fill out the sound. They recorded their first (self-titled) album, and a few months later, a bluesy, folk punk CD "Tide Must Turn" was recorded. Don left the band in March of '99 and Taylor Hiner came in to fill out the sound on guitar. The first college town show was in Auburn, AL on April 17, 1999 with airplay on WEGL. During the spring "Molotov Cocktail Twist" was recorded. Taylor left for college that fall. In February 2000, KP launched its MP3 web site. In April, Wooka left the band. In June, Dave Stanley was brought on as drummer, adding essence to help refine the growing sound. KP also started having college radio airplay in June '00 on WVUA in Tuscaloosa, AL. In July, "Spaceworty" was recorded, and after a year of recording, "Dreams and Nightmares" came out in August 2001. Old favorites written in 99 are brought in mixing with tunes born in 2000 and 2001. During the time spent working on this album they recorded hours of live jams of their songs and improv tunes, and put together a live album called "Sinister Groove". |
