Artist History
Fluidified are a 3 piece, original soul band featuring Michael Wheatley on vocals and keys, Sergio Coniglione on bass and Kathryn Hailey on drums.Formed in about 1995 as a side project by singer songwriter Michael Wheatley the band has now become his main project and can be found gigging around Sydney on a regular basis at venues like The Golden Sheaf, Snakepit, Beach Road Hotel, Harbourside Brasserie and the Laundronet Café, sharing the stage with other acts such as Dave Graney, Jackie Orszazcky, Professor Groove and the Booty Affair. Their crowds are getting bigger by the minute as they win them over with a relaxed stage presence, a cooking mix of originals and a coupla’ classic soul and funk covers. Building the basis of their sound from the roots driven groove of the late sixties and early seventies, Fluidified have the tendency to melt and reform over and over again with the power of strong lyrics, liquid melody and bottom of the soul boogie. The band members are:Michael Wheatley, vocals, keys, harmonica- Michael has either performed, recorded and or released albums with RAW SUGAR, Rani, Louis Burdett, Stuart Hunter, Buzz Bidstrup, Shauna Jensen, Paul McDermott, Jackie Orszazcky, Ill Pickl… the list could go on.Sergio Coniglione, Bass, vocals- Serg, Michael’s longtime music partner and co founder of RAW SUGAR, has also shared grooves with Shauna Jensen, King Clam, Diana Ah Naid and Moonrock.Kathryn Hailey, Drums- Kathryn was discovered kicking a solid polka beat at the Russian Club in Bondi… she is a professional dance teacher as well and provides an infectious beat that is unstoppable.Fluidified also feature many special guests at their shows including Rebekah Jensen (Jimmy Barnes, Paul McDermott’s MOSH & Raw Sugar) and Tim Hall (the Strange & the Whitlams).December 1999 saw them release their debut album Tin Water through their own label, Ensemble 770 and are celebrating the release of their second album “Lift”. Both albums are available over the net at their web site www.fluidified.live.com.au or at their shows. |

Press Reviews
"Now a couple of years back, everyone in Sydney seemed to have a hard-on for funk and funk bands. But, as that enthusiasm waned in the way that romance sometimes does after just one night, people decided that funk was passe and yesterday's meal ticket. But for souls like myself, the love of the funkified is carried on through the night like a flame in the darkness, and so it is with those souls in Fluidified who just can't stop the music! Under the staunch leadership of that grooviest of hepcats Michael Wheatley, erstwhile of the remarkable Raw Sugar, one of Sydney's naughtiest bands, (check out the amazing Between the Cheeks) the ensemble have been recording a new CD with the help of one of Sydney's other remarkable luminaries of the funk scene, Tim Hall (Tim sang in the most astonishing live act i've ever had the good fortune to see, The Strange, was in The Whitlams for Eternal Nightcap and has recently been dabbling with his solo material and a remarkable new project called Chakradiva). So when you get two very funky young gentlemen of this calibre together there can be no anticipating how high the vibe is going to get" the single guy, Revolver Magazine #118 |
