Artist description
There are two places songwriter/singer/guitarist
Raymond Parker is most comfortable, on the back
of a horse he is training and on stage where he
is performing his own songs as well as a few
George Strait tunes. And then there's that
full time job. Just back from New York where he
recently recorded his second album `Forgive Me`
with Black Rose Productions and Broccoli
Entertainment. Raymond and his band,
The Lost River Band, are hitting the stages
in Oregon and California seeking the best avenue
for people to hear and enjoy the songs of this
album as well as the seven songs Raymond recorded
in 2001 with the help of two-time Grammy winner
Chris Booher of Asleep at the Wheel. The title
track (Forgive Me)is about a man coming to terms
with sins we all commit and then moving on with
the knowledge that by God's Grace we can move
past them. His first video `Becky's Song` was
inspired by a good friend and breast cancer
survivor. Raised on a farm in Nevada, Parker
grew up singing in a John Deere tractor and
dreaming of the day he would play guitar and
follow the roads of his idols George Strait,
Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. Raymonds' love
of country music was inspired by his Dad. After
losing his father to cancer in 1994 Raymond decided
to follow his dreams and in October 1999 he wrote
and produced his first album `Chase a Dream`.
Parker spent his youth playing football, exercising
racehorses and wrestling. He left the high
desert of Nevada for Oregon and Oregon's
Institute of Technology where he earned a
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Technology in 1992. While at OIT Raymond was
the last NAIA All American wrestler for that
school. The same hard work and dedication that
made him an All American goes into his music,
but he is quick to acknowledge that successful
people have something in common, they surround
themselves with GREAT people." |
