Chris, 26, on lead guitar/vocals; Scott, 28, on drums; Shaggy on bass; and Josh on lead guitar and backup vocals have been performing cover hits from bands such as Oasis, Blink 182, Bush, Depeche Mode and Nirvana live at Fujiyama�fs, The Hideaway, Wizards and also for local parties and base functions. When Chris and Scott were asked how they met, they both laughed. �gWhen Scott moved in next door to me he came by one day and said, �eHey if my drums are too loud let me know.�ESo I told him, �eHey no problem. And if my guitar is too loud you be sure to let me know.�EIt basically went from there.�EAlthough they perform a lot of newer pop/alternative music, The Wenzels�Edistinct sound was greatly influenced by The Beatles. Another major influence on The Wenzels has been pop-rock, US guitar artisans from Los Angeles, Weezer. The Wenzels were chosen in September for the great honor of being featured on a �gTribute to Weezer�Ealbum set to release in December 2000. They will record the song �gMykel and Carli�E a Weezer hit, on the CD. Chris explained the tragic story behind �gMykel and Carli�E �gI used to know Mykel and Carli personally. We used to exchange letters back in 1994/95. They were sisters and the founders of the Weezer fan club. I received autographed pictures, T-shirts, and stickers from them as well as interesting hand written letters. Sadly, they were both killed in a terrible car accident and after, there was a major label release called �gHear You Me�E a tribute to Mykel and Carli. I felt that out of all of the Weezer songs we could have recorded, this one was special and held a personal tie to me. The irony about this song was that The Wenzels originally recorded this song to let them hear it, but they never got the chance to hear us pay homage to them and the wonderful job they did supporting Weezer. So on the upcoming tribute album, we just want to pay our respects to them.�EThe Wenzels have already recorded two CD�fs, which are available in MP3 format from MP3.com, however they�fre almost done recording their third.
