Artist description
Brian Cober is the driving force behind his band, The Nationals.Born and raised in a small farming community in southern ontario (Canada), Brian is a shy and gentle guitar man who finds it difficult to talk about himself. (Which is primarily why it is taking us SO long to get you his bio information!).Unlike some Toronto musicians, Brian is a "full time" musician. He gigs in and around the Toronto area, and is often called upon as a jam host.Watching Brians unique double slide technique is fascinating, and hearing him play and sing is always a joy. |

Artist History
In Northern Ontario- where things like this happen, middle of the night- when things like this happen, Brian Cober and Paul McNamara decided to form a band called "The Nationals". "Our musical vision was very different from the people we were backing up. We knew we had something special" remembers Brian. Since then they have released three CD's, played all of Canada (that's a lot!), and parts of the U.S. and Europe. They were Bo Diddley's back-up band for a tour, and have worked with some of Canada's best, includingDave Colter, Jim Heineman, Jodie Drake, Nick Kent, Eugene Smith, Laura Hubbert and many more. Brian uses a system he invented called "Double Slide Guitar". Holding a modified steel guitar bar in his left hand he adds a smaller slide on his left thumb. Using the two slides together, he creates a unique guitar experience that must be seen and heard. The music is original blues-rock thats been called "playfully eccentric, rythmn driven blues". |
