Artist description
Pigsaw Janet’s neurotic pop show somehow fuses pop, punk, rock, y’alternative, and some neat Latin grooves into one very distinctive package. This band’s refreshing tendency to experiment can lead to a variety of oddities that borrow from such early experimental Einsteins as Frank Zappa, as well as the contemporary theatrics of more current misanthropes such as Ween. Pigsaw Janet’s consistently crooked rhythms and bone jarring breaks entice and tease the listener while at the same time revealing some quality musicianship. At the heart of the bands subversive, but catchy sound, lays the group’s youthful and inquisitive lyrics. Absurdly hilarious and socially aware, the group's hummable vocal lines ring of classic geek rock stars such as They Might Be Giants to Dead Milkmen. A clever blend of off-kilter pop and high-energy rock make this band one of the more original up and coming acts in the S.E. region. From Psychedelics to Psychotherapy, Pigsaw Janet has it covered. |

Press Reviews
One of the most tantalizing bands to hit these parts in years... from the flamboyant singer to the monster guitar and the rhythm section that calls down the thunder at will, this is a band to watch! (Free Times)*** Colossal Music Crawl press- Pigsaw Janet9:00-9:40 p.m.Pigsaw Janet is one of those bands that couldn’t be “normal” if they tried--not that they have tried. The band takes a penchant for spastic pop arrangements and marries it to a predisposition for zany lyrics, the result being what they themselves call “a somewhat neurotic blend.” Despite this tendency for a very left-of-center approach, the band has pop chops to burn. Sometimes those chops come through in a surprisingly straightforward way, such as on the song “Dirty Mind,” which brings together all of the band’s neurotic qualities into a package that could get even the most mainstream of rock fans dancing. DC **** Pigsaw Janet are zany pop tricksters who rope you in with oddball tunes like “Cryptozoology” from their new CD, Houston We Have A Problem. Before too long, the realization sets in that these boys rock, in that endearingly off-kilter, Cramps or Fleshtones way. KO-FreeTimes |
