Press Reviews
The following CD review was taken from J.A.M. Magazine (August 1999 Issue)Logos Eye "Broken Now is Everything" - By Jaimie EllisFive songs, four guys & one producer. Seems typical, but in fact it isn't. Kids, this is not a true demo. There's nothing garage about it. In fact, I have spun it with the likes of some of my national CDs, and it's stood the test. The quality is far beyond what's expected of your average freshman effort. I dig this band"I dig this band."because it's not about flash with them at all. The music isn't buried behind the graphics, it's straight up rock, and it's definitely worth checking out. After hearing the disc...I am eager to see these boys live! From the EP, I have come to the conclusion that these guys are very into what they're doing, and are going to be a great band to monitor the growth of. While I would be prone to classify them as a guitar band, I don't have any intentions of enforcing that for the simple fact that you might take it the wrong way. They are definitely driven by guitar, but strong vocals and a fairly tight rhythm section are all elements that this band possess'.The first song on the CD, "Learning" is perfect for opening the CD. If you ask me, this is the song with the most commercial potential. A nice groove paves the way to a heavier buildup that audibly smacks the listener into attention. Following "Learning" is "Dream and See" (my personal favorite). The beginning of the song is cool. I know, I know, "cool? That's it?" Cool is the best word I could find. Rather than analyzing this song, I just like to listen to it. It's COOL! Along with these two songs you'll find titles that include "Bloodshot," "Habits" and "Six."Upon exploring the innards of the CD card looking to see who produced it, I found that one of J.A.M.'s own was responsible. Mike Krum! Way to go Mike! All in all, it captured my interest. My musical taste normally takes me to different plateaus than this, but I enjoyed it. |
