Artist description
NOTE: The songs posted here are work demos, not final product. This unproduced musical started as a school songwriting assignment: choose a favorite movie or book and write two songs in musical theatre style for it. I chose to revamp and rewrite the Warren Beatty classic HEAVEN CAN WAIT (which is based on the stage play HERE COMES MR JORDAN, changing the movie's football profession to baseball. Baseball is easier to stage and fit better with the themes I was trying to develop.) Enjoy! |

Artist History
Watch the movie HEAVEN CAN WAIT for the basics...though we've changed quite a bit. The gist of the story is pro baseball player Joe Pendleton is killed getting ready for the World Series. The only problem is, it really wasn't his time to go. An Escort angel made a mistake and took him too early. He can't go back to his own body because it has been cremated. So, he is put into a temporary body until they find a suitable replacement. He lands in the body of multimillionaire Theo Farnsworth whose wife and her lover have killed him.As Theo, Joe falls in love with a fiesty young woman who is trying to save her father's company from Theo's hostile takeover. Love and identity, high and low comedy, backstabbing, and the hereafter mixing with the here and now make this a timeless story. |
