Artist History
G.O.D. Soldiers started in January 1998 under the direction of God, through Noah J. "a.k.a. Lil' General". Four brothers and sisters ( Noah J., William II, Inez , and MelindaSmith) came together to form G.O.D. Soldiers, a rap and R&B group of Christians. Before they were G.O.D. Soldiers, the Smith's grew up singing in churches and evangelizing from state to state as children. But as they grew older, they went their different directions with their life and music. Coming from a family of nine, they were not able to have everything they wanted as they grew up, however God always took care of their needs. Even when their father was bedfast for two years, God always supplied every one of their needs, and kept the family together. The vision of having a rap and R&B group was ultimately given to Noah J., "many thought it was just a phase he was going through", over time he has proven otherwise. While playing college basketball, he realized it was time to move on and make a change. God began to give him song after song. Noah quotes, "I am a pencil, God is the writer". Instead of going back to college, Noah went to the school of trial and error, book reading, video and computer training. He wanted to learn as much as possible to begin recording and preparing himself to get the message God has given him to spread to others. After putting lyrics to music that his brother played, his family interest began to peak. Like so many times before, his family continued to give him support. After writing the lyrics, he began to practice with his brother along with two of his sisters. The fruits of their labor became very well known among themselves and others, when the four got their first opportunity to sing at a local talent showcase. G.O.D. Soldiers then named "Turning Point", performed together for the first time as a rap and R&B group. At the end of the performance they exited the stage, leaving to a standing ovation from a crowded local theater.Back to the trenches again, G.O.D. Soldiers worked harder to improve every aspect of their group. God has given them everything they need to spread the gospel. One of the greatest things about this group is everyone knows their role and they are supported by a family that loves God. With minimum investments in home studio equipment (VS880) and graphic programs (Paint Shop Pro) on a personal computer, they spent countless hours recording and mixing for this production at "Bedside Studio". The name "Bedside Studio" comes from the fact that every aspect of the production (printing and design of graphics on CD, recording, mixing, etc.) was accomplished in a bedroom beside a bed. In making this project happen, every family member was an inspiration. "Together We Stand".G.O.D. Soldiers are in for the long ride; ready to go where God says go and move when God wants them to move. Coming from a strong family background, G.O.D. Soldiers plans to stay together forever, with the help of God, they will maintain. |
