Artist History
In early 1999, John and Nathan began writing a bunch of songs together in a minimalist rock mode. Though we lived in different cities (Vancouver/Toronto), we knew that we would both be in the same place during the next summer. We started versions of songs that were emailed in lo-fi mp3 format and played over the phone to each other for feedback. In April, Nathan moved to Paris, but the writing continued. Finally, in July we met in Canada and attempted to record around 15 songs in a week with our own equipment. That week became four months, and around twenty songs were eventually dropped. A new heavier style began to emerge with our new songs, and the band was named Autobot City in November. A month later, we finished the mixdowns and the design of the album. Our cd, Autobot City, is produced entirely by us, and is available by emailing us. Next, we moved to New York and recorded some new songs without drumming. A friend, Tony Nozero drummed with us at our first show on July 24, 2000 at Don Hill's in NYC. In October, 2000, Nathan left NY to move to Vancouver. . .but not before recording one more song, called "grace", with good friend and studio engineer, Bob Van Dyke (Pop Filter Music). Presently, we are writing and recording new songs for our second album. Stand ready. |

Press Reviews
"My Bloody Valentine fans will jump for joy when they hear this noise-drenched, atonal, zone-out rock. A massive wall of static-heavy guitars carves mile-wide celestial pathways and settles in, establishing a shuddering psychedelic groove. Vocals are super distorted, adding to the level-topping caterwaul." --- Listen.com --- "Noise that transforms into music, distorted voices that sound appropriate, and powerful guitars that sound melancholic in the end. Autobot City have a special touch, a crying touch behind all those imitations of sound. . .it seems to lift off from a group of sad electronics, the voice is perfect, and the energy that represents is incredible. . ." --- abolipop.com --- |
