Artist History
What do you get when you have a guitarist/singer who's a little bit emo, a bassist who's a little "punk as fuck," and a drummer who's very death metal and who all share a love for Bigwig? You get Anthem 85, that's what! Anthem 85 was born in the cold December of 1998 in the white ghetto of Los Gatos. With the break up of their rap-metal band (don't ask) Ricky Gelber on guitar and vocals and Marco Pitruzzella on drums set out to find a bassist. With almost no punks in Los Gatos, Ricky called up his good friend David Brenner and told him to pick up the bass. Together, with their mutual disgust for the covervative nature of our our society, they began to conquer the unknown road of political new school bands. Anthem 85 was a name that Ricky thought of, Anthem 85 does not have a meaning...SO DON'T ASK! Anthem 85 has had a somewhat hard time finding their niche being neither "old school hardcore" or mxpx'y "god-core" that makes up the South Bay scene. Our music is a blend of melodic hardcore/punk with socially aware lyrics in the same vein as Propagandhi, The Dillinger Four, and Operation Ivy. Songs about girls, the government, and everything in between. So listen and enjoy. |
