Press Reviews
Colin James : Traveler (Warner Music)
Colin James always has wanted to be perceived as a consummate recording act and this has been problematic. With Traveler, to be released Sept. 9, James at last achieves balance for which he's been striving. The soulfulness of his singing is matched by the warmth of his guitar playing. Amid the startling covers (John Lennon's "I'm Losing You," Nick Drake's "Black Eyed Dog," Jimi Hendrix's breezy "Rainy Day, Dream Away") are some satisfying originals such as "Make A Mistake" or "Sending A Message" in which the blues inform the great pop feel James has achieved. His most fulfilling album.
