Artist History
Formed in October of 1995 at Cornell University, Kaizer started out as "The Fourth Floor" - mainly because that's where most of us lived. Having started out as a cover band, the group took advantage of the fraternity scene to build its chops and performance skills before cranking out its first original song "Life at the Bottom" in the spring of '96. Adding more performances under their belts, the members grew their presence in the Ithaca area and continued writing. Adding "Drought Run Dry" the following year to its list of originals, the band also added female vocalist Alex Kreuter to the roster and the sound took a new direction.
By the third year, two of the members decided to study outside of Ithaca and so Kaizer turned into Kritter for a semester. Despite the temporary loss of two members, Kritter came out with another original "More Common Than Smith."
Upon the "abroad" members returning to Ithaca, the group decided to buckle down and record an album's worth of materal. Financing the project through performing, the band added 7 more originals to the collection and independently released the album "More Common Than Smith."
After releasing the CD in February of 1999, Kaizer continued to perform and write through May of 1999. Upon graduation, the group decided to go its separate ways professionally, yet the personal and musical relationships continue to grow.
4 Years later, Kaizer still writes and is looking forward to regrouping to record its sophomore effort. The title track "More Common Than Smith" recently got picked up by an ABC Family show and will be featured on an episode of Knock First this fall.
