Artist description
The Great Expression is a Rock Band with Elements of Punk, Hardcore, Emo, and Ska from Pinole, CA located in the East Bay Area of Northern California. They are NOT a punk band, NOT a hardcore band, NOT a emo band, and NOT a ska band. They perfer to call themselves: EAST BAY EXPRESS ROCK!
The Great Expression are a really positive, uplifting, poetic, political, and emotional when it comes to their lyrics. Key Songwriter, Sean Long wanted the band to have a message and show that music can be more than rhymes and curse words. The Great Expression expresses real situations, positive messages, and surreal storytelling in their songs. They are a REAL experience that you have to see with your own eyes and listen with your own ears. With the crazy stage pressence of the band and the spirit of true activists, they want you to go home from seeing them and hearing them not only having a fun time but to be openminded to many music genes and many pro-active ways to help people and the world.

Artist History
Formed in Early 2003, The Great Expression was the brain child of a few openminded East Bay, CA Kids who wanted to make music without limits. TGE used to be together under the name "Stratos Fear" for awhile with Nigel Mehoph on vocals, Sean Long on bass and vocals, Jeff Kendall on drums, and a revolving door of guitarists. The Band decided that "Stratos Fear" was too dark and depressing for a really positive and openminded band. Sean, one day was watching the History Channel on the Great Depression while deciding on a new band name. He saw it and it reminded him of Stratos Fear being a too depressing band name. He and the band wanted something that "expressed" many different styles of music which is what the band is about. Sean thought up "The Great Expression" as a play on "The Great Depression" and for they say and the band lives by that "Music is The Great Expression!"
After settling on the name, The band was on a search for a new guitarist. After finding Steve Day on guitar and vocals through a Guitar Center Ad, the band found it's missing link and the line-up was solid.
