Artist description
The voice of singer/songwriter Tennessee Tuckness is a study in contrasts - tough and tender, sultry and cool. Her songs are equal parts of folk rock and country, with a dash of the blues. Bittersweet emotion is the ingredient that blends Tennessee's unique sound together - emotion as heartfelt and deep as that of her greatest musical influences, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt and Emmylou Harris. |

Artist History
Tennessee Tuckness is an artist/singer/songwriter residing in Amarillo, Texas (her hometown) . She has the love of many styles of music and craves to see live performances. Tennessee is a performer and plays continuously and currently in the Amarillo area, including Lubbock, Norman Oklahoma, Sante Fe, Albuquerque, Farmington, New Mexico and is beginning to travel into the Colorado area and will be seeking her entire home state of Texas for performance dates. Tennessee's style of music is an acoustical folk/rock/blues/country blend where she can perform as a solo act or with a band. Tennessee's background began when she received her first guitar (a 1952 Martin) at the age of 14 and began to take lessons. The first time her guitar instructor heard Tennessee sing ... "he couldn't believe his ears". Tennessee began learning folk style songs and Emmylou Harris fastly became her idol. At the age of 16, Tennessee was literally pushed onto the stage to perform for her first time. Tennessee grew into listening to a lot of Stevie Nicks in the mid-80's while attending North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. She then fled to Los Angeles in 1989 where she wrote her first song entitled "You Mystify Me". She began to collaborate with another singer/musician/songwriter - Tracy Foote, who was involved in a band called "Dead in Spain". |

Press Reviews
Songs from her 1998 album release, "I Am Not Forsaken", are in regular rotation on local radio stations, including Amarillo College's KACV FM 90, the most frequently honored college radio station in America. She is a featured artist on AC's annual AC Sampler album, a collection of songs from the area's most popular artists. Her most recent single, "We Fly", is receiving excellent reviews and substantial air play. As the local paper puts it: "She [Tennessee] has more right to a major label than the overproduced, silicone- enhanced mannequins now hogging the airwaves. If this is truly the golden age of female singer-songwriters, Tennessee will find her place." (Amarillo Globe News May 5, 1999). |
