Artist description
Marie-Claude Moriarty was raised and educated in France. Her classical guitar training and study of early renaissance music makes her a modern day inheritor and exponent of a musical tradition going back to the days of the Franco-Flemish and Italian troubadours of 12th century Europe who sang not only to entertain but to educate and convey news and imformation. Her repertoire includes not only renaissance music but also modern day folk songs, cabaret, show tunes and her own original material. Marie-Claude sings in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and even Japanese. She has performed in Europe, Japan and on the east and west coast of the United States. It is very difficult to play classical guitar and sing well at the same time but Marie-Claude manages this as well as adding charming facial expressions and physical nuance to her live performances. This very effective and pleasing combination along with her natural beauty makes Marie-Claude Moriarty a most unusual creative spirit. THANKS!! ON JULY 13,2000, MARIE-CLAUDE'S "BELLE QUI TIENT MA VIE" WAS RANKED #873 OUT OF OVER 500,000 SONGS ON MP3.COM.!! |

Press Reviews
Marie-Claude Moriarty brings touches of Renaissance music to today's Femme-Folk. Her singing voice is equally lovely in Celtic-English and French. Her ancient songs sound modern while her original numbers can sound centuries old. - Nick D.- LISTEN.COM |
