Press Reviews
"This album will take him to the top." Bonnie Raitt Columbia, SC 5/4/99 Kyle Blackmon is fully aware of what it means to be a folk singer. After wandering through Europe with acoustic guitar in hand, the 20 year-old singer/songwriter found his true voice in the alleys and underbellies of the cities of London and Amsterdam. Thursday night's performance marks the release of his first full length Cd, Wine and Smoke. The recording is a monument to the bluegrass and folk traditions of the states. With varying instruments and lineups, Blackmon keeps the archetypal themes of aimless travel and perseverance of spirit entertaining and fresh. Free Times 10/28/98 Columbia, SC |
