Artist History
Years ago at Wesleyan University (c.1989), Ethan and David met and started playing in a funk/rock jam band called Voodoo Groove (later Blue Funk Zoo). Playing to a captive audience of drunken students, they felt like rock stars. They even took the show on the road to colleges and bars around the tri-state area. They paid no rent but got to hang out and play music whenever they didn't have class. Yep, they were a regular "big band on campus".Then real life turned and bit them in the ass. They graduated into a hell of a recession (c.1992). Ethan moved back home to NYC struggled to a musician and hold down an entry level "real job". David came to New York and immediately found himself working for "the man" as well. They stuck to playing though. Blue Funk Zoo sputtered and coughed at a few gigs around town, but the bass player position would never stay filled and that band died. When they split up, Ethan joined Phat Albert, and played guitar for The Shining Path (Which? Records). Dave joined the Ranters, then Phat Albert, but that band would also crumble...To this day bass player syndrome has haunted them like a nasty beast, a crack-head monkey that pummels their dreams to dust. But then they saw the light and the power of two. 8HEAD was born to set them free musically and spiritually. So you see, 8HEAD is the culmination of over ten years of artistic determination. Perhaps now the bitch-slapping hell-monkeys will be exorcised and the musical life they always wanted will simply be. There's no one that can stop 8HEAD. It came from a simple idea, that making music is fun. |

Press Reviews
NY PTA states that 8HEAD is good for the youth of America. "We want our kids to listen to 8HEAD over and over and over again; anything to end those Backstreet Boy beats and tepid 98 Degrees musings of love and happiness. 8HEAD gives me confidence that rage and cynicism are still good fodder for musical expository. 8HEAD for everyone." -- Concerned NYC parent and 8HEAD convert |
