Artist History
The Remedy was formed in the spring of 2002. The band had jammed a few times before and played a song at the high school talent show but was not serious about making music until that summer. Their main reason for starting the band was to play music and have fun. They were all really close friends who were all in the school band and knew a lot about music, so it was not too hard getting started. The original members were Jason Awbrey (drums), Mat Bolden (bass), Keith Lawson (guitar), Eric Wilson (rap) and Amy Haroldsen (vocals). Originally the band was called Caffeine Free. They played mostly covers but their love for creating their own music took over and they started to write their own songs.
Their first gig was at Café Intermezzo in Reedley, California in October. They played surprisingly well, considering the time they had to rehearse, and were asked to come back and open the following weekend for a band out of Fresno called Toxic Sunset. They played at a few more locations but it was extremely difficult to get all of their schedules coordinated for more gigs. Then in January, Amy left for college. Without a lead singer they were forced to play musical chairs and switched around their line-up. Luckily, Keith was a good drummer and Jason was a good guitar player and singer, so they switched. After the switch the band became very dedicated to their music and somehow found enough time to practice at least twice a week. Once they were comfortable with their new positions, they started playing shows again under a new name, The Remedy. On April 27th they started recording an eleven-song demo CD at a local studio. The CD is now complete and they have even added another guitarist, James Isaak. Things are just starting to get rolling and the band is always actively searching for more places to play and promote their music.
