    Artist History
The music of Dennis J. is many times referred to as "alternative pop." These days, the artist tends to write material that is about 50% alternative/rock-ballads and 50% "catchy" "pop/alt/rock" tunes (as well as a couple of tunes that show some "country" influence). Former professional lead artist of the critically acclaimed band "Terminal Romance," Dennis J. has spent many years as a professional, working musician, songwriter and producer. These days, Dennis is concentrating on his own projects independently to give himself the "quality control" that he requires for his music. Look for the soon-to-be-released album "Dennis J" in early 2004. Also, new music and offerings will appear on this site periodically so check back soon and check back often!

Terminal Romance-Dirty Pool (soundtrack) 10/10 By Nick Baldrian***** Terminal Romance are from California and play gorgeous AOR/pop ~~~{note: AOR="adult oriented rock"}~~~ (a'la King Of Hearts, Southern Sons, Innuendo, The Beatles, REM, Rick Springfield, Mark Spiro. "Vicariously Yours" is a jaw dropping song full of lush melodies and very sincere vocals from Dennis J Barela, this song features some very nice violin playing, then things get a bit more up-tempo for the Nelson/The Rembrandts influenced "Checkout Girl" which is so damn catchy I'm surprised that the radio stations haven't picked up on this song, it's filled with great hooklines, this band can write aor songs with the best of them, in fact it would be fair to say that I personally think that we are going to hear a lot from this band. The last track "Gotta Find Jeffrey a Girl" is a lush aor/pop song with huge inspiring vocals. I can't wait to hear these songs in the context of the film the "Dirty Pool," I can imagine them working really well. Overall this band are VERY VERY talented, and I would say that it's probably one my favorite finds of the year. AWESOME every home should have one!!!!
