Artist description
The Consorte Bella Donna is an all female madrigal troupe that sings historically accurate music of the Renaissance with it's home base at the Bristol Renaissance Faire in Bristol, Wisconsin. Directed by Stephanie Lewin, a nine year veteran of the faire, the Bellas strive for musical and theatrical excellence within a short rehearsal period of five weekends. The members of this lively group are challenged not only with the complexities of madrigal and folk songs of the 16th century, but with the street interaction and improvisation they have with faire-goers of all ages. |

Artist History
Originally, the madrigals were to be directed by Jon Krivitzky alone but time constraints, caused him to ask me, Stephanie Lewin, to co-direct with him. We hadn't planned the group to be just women, but the lack of male singers at auditions made it a necessity. The name Consorte Bella Donna was "borrowed" from a previous idea I had for an all-female group of traveling trouveres based on an actual italian court group called the Concerti di Donne. Press Reviews
What people are saying about our cd:
"I just had the distinct pleasure of listening to the new Bella Donna CD in its entirety. In a word, FABULOUS! The CD plays like a set at the faire, complete with nutty introductions, funny annecdotes, hilarious forays into tangential topics, and great singing all around. It's not flawless, but it's *alive*. The mix of live tracks and studio tracks gives the album a unique flavor... pick this up! It's the next best thing to seeing them in person!"
