Artist description I always wanted Charge to be fast, exciting, relevant and above all free of the bloated bullshit that to this day I hate and despise in the outpourings of other bands. This is neither a manifesto nor a list of excuses. At no point during these years did anyone who was in Charge have or do anything that even remotely resembled a 'JOB'. The very idea was ridiculous how could we possibly do all the things we needed to do to be a band and work as well? Impossible! Please sir, may I have 5 weeks off to tour Germany? Oh, and after that, I'll be off for three days 'cus we've got a gig in York? & how about a raise 'cus the insurance is due on the van and we don't actually have any money right at the moment? Would you have employed us? Would I? So we signed on. And dreamt up wonderful excuses when we missed signing for a few weeks and they pretty much always gave us our giros anyway. --Stu P.
