Artist History
Raised on third wave ska and new school pop-punk, Cant Stop Lamar would like to be associated in a different category than the endless streams of high school bands looking to gain popularity and more importantly acceptance among the female gender. Comprised of 16 year old sophomores and juniors, Cant Stop Lamar plays upbeat fun ska in the same following as Reel Big Fish and Slow Gherkin, but at the same time throwing in mild distortion over catchy horn schemes. Lyrics touch on humorous, immature topics that are well thought out, while still not being academy award winning in style. Ranging from having your teen crush put a restraining order against you because she already has a boyfriend (Untouchable) to a playful rage towards an insane, misunderstanding step-family (Pang Anthem) and a song for any over 11 year old who still believes in St. Nick (Santanic). Although Cant Stop Lamar has only been a real band for just over 1 year, all have been friends and music lovers since the early years. Originally started by guitarists Mike E, Mike L, and bassist Ross, they learned musicianship and timing through the ever so common “Blink-182 and Green Day cover band” strategy. Quickly they shifted to ska by adding both trumpets Jon and Kevin. After a whirlwind of drummers, Cody was permanently added in January and Dustin came in on Tenor Sax in May. Cant Stop Lamar has already gripped a hold of a small fan base in Danville, but are hoping to extend it throughout the Bay Area before they become legal. |
