Artist History
In late '94/ early '95, two outcasts of the otherwise trendy and rediculous pile of trash that we called highschool, found out what very similar interests they had in music, and otherwise. Bill Adair (vocalist) and Nate Howard (guitarist). They were very much into science fiction, and the notion that this world is headed for nuclear destruction- or worse. This concept was then shrouded within modern- day concepts and turmoil. Nick Cipriano (Malhavok, Greyhaven) was approached by Bill about his apparant drumming talent, which proved to stand alone. Bill and Nate soon became very excited about the whole idea, but before long, bill had to move back to California. Nate and Nick wrote several songs together, and played two hope- lifting, jam- packed gigs right in Nick's garage. Bill kept in close contact, and was always thought of as the lead singer, despite a couple different stand-in vocalists (including Jeremy from Fifth Hour Apocalypse). Finally, Bill returned, and after only a couple practice- sessions, Nate met gauitarist/ keyboardist Ethan J. Mathews. After several attempts it was apparant that the two worlds collided too severley in a very bad way. So...Ethan, Nate and Nick continued a project called Greyhaven, and Bill and Nate continued Thieve with the help of a drum machine (being the fact that no other drummer in town that they had heard of or met could keep up with the music. This sound evolved more and more with the help of electronics, imagination and just sheer turmoil, until it spewed forth a self- titled E.P. Currently the two are several states appart, though every time Nate comes to visit, they attack the town with a barrage of shows, hitting venues like the bullets of an m16. This duo are ussually inspired by movies (Blade Runner, Liquid Sky, Highlander), and mingle these thoughts and visions with current- day misery. Since all of the previous occurences, the sound of Thieve has evolved even more, and the two plan on creating a full- length album, with themes, sorrow, and anger flying everwhere. |
