Artist History DONNELL COPELAND BETTER KNOWN AS "SWOSS" FROM DELAND FLORIDA, A.K.A. THE "GHETTO STORYTELLER" IS NOW 26 YEARS OLD AND WAS BORN IN ROCHESTER, N.Y. WHEN HE WAS 14 HE MOVED TO HAZLEHURST, MS. THAT'S WHEN HE STARTED GETTING INTO MUSIC. HE THEN MET NEW FRIENDS WHO WERE WRITING SONGS. THEY HAD WHAT SOME MIGHT CALL A MINI-STUDIO, MEANING THEY HAD THE BASIC EQUIPMENT TO MAKE A ROUGH DRAFT OF A DEMO. THEY STARTED A GROUP CALLED "COMBINATION WORLD 3" (C.W.3.). THEY ENTERED ALL LOCAL TALENT SHOWS AND EVEN CAME IN SECOND PLACE IN A STATE RAP & DANCE CONTEST. SWOSS THEN CAME TO SETTLE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA AT THE AGE OF 18. BUYING D.J. EQUIPMENT, HE STARTED DOING HOUSE PARTIES WITH AN OPEN MIC CONTEST AND ENTERING CONTESTS OUT OF TOWN SHOWING VERSATILE SKILLS TO AND FOR THE HOODS HE WAS IN. THEN ONE DAY HE CALLED THE FULL MOON RECORDS STUDIO, AND BY CHANCE OF FATE, D.J. FURY ANSWERED THE PHONE! SWOSS THEN PERSUADED D.J. FURY TO SHOW HIM HOW DETERMINED HE WAS TO GET INTO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. HE SAYS, "IF I STAY DETERMINED, I CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE AND OTHERS." WELL, NOW HE HAS HIS CHANCE!!!
