Artist History
To my listeners and fans. I started music as far back as I can remember. I started playing the piano at the age 4. I have never taken any piano lessons throughout my history until last year. When I did the instructor asked me question like how do you do that?(One of my rolls on the piano from the song "Walking Through Shadows") She told me I don't need any lessons anymore. So I said ok I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing. I taught myself piano by reading books, music journals, and going to many symphony piano and Orchestra concerts. I also learned a lot about composition because I did take many years of trumpet lessons. I have a backround in music composition and find great enjoyment in arranging symphonic music. I love the challenge that it brings to me. But here goes the truth about my artist life. Everyone probably wonders what our lives are like. Well my story is kind of unique. I actually think it's kind of cool. I have never done any major shows. I have played in cafes and local restaraunts. However, I have put on many live shows. I play where nobody else would guess. I live pretty far from the city where things are nice and quiet. But once a month or so, people call me up and ask me "Can you put on another show?" thats when the fun begins. I give the ok and here they come, right to my house. Yes to the front of my house. Everyone gathers around my front entrance and views my keyboards through the picture window of my bedroom. I have speakers throughout my house so the doors are open and people come in and sit back and enjoy the environment that I create with the music. I guess the most prominent saying amongst my fans is "You havent heard Shoki until you've seen him play live!". That's the true story behind me. Im an artist in a remote area that plays not for the money but just for the love of it. Everyone tells me that I am one of the best waiting to be discovered. I wont say that I agree or disagree. I will just say that time will tell. Remember without you the listener, my music would remain in silence. Thank You All for Your support. SHOKI |
