Sasquatch - Demo
Review by: Rob Wrong (StonerRock.com)

The songs on Sasquatch's first demo could be compared to a lot of things...it's tuned down riff rock tunes, pretty straight forward and rocking all the way through. All the songs on this one are catchy and will have you bobbing your head to the beat immediately.
The seven tunes on this CD remind me of Unida musically, the vocals don't remind me of John Garcia though...but musically the tunes have busy riffs and good solid hooks. Tons of good driving grooves with plenty of power behind them.
The guitars are warmly overdriven and there are some good blues classic rock wah leads. The band themselves are all solid players and this demo is a promising show of what they are capable of. Vocals remind me of COC at times, other times just solid melodic vocals right up front with some good melody backup vocals/overdubs...the guy can belt it out for sure.
Get this one if you dig the strong solid steady rock of Unida, crunchy guitars and classic rock drenched riffs and leads. It's obvious that these cats are into the whole desert Kyuss scene, but they are carving their own sort of notch in it...nothing new, by any means, but not too shabby if you as me. Definitely a bit rough but man, these guys show some promise for certain:) |
