Artist History
Salon Betty name has been changed to BettyX. SB was born from a dream that BettyX had while residing in Prague in 1993 -thus planting the strange seed later to be born in Seattle that following year. SB quickly established a "cult" following as a live act and developed a multi-media following as well for it's interactive/performance art shows broadcast via the internet. They were the first of it's genre in Seattle to "shake up the scene" during the reign of "grunge rock" in the early 90's. Salon Betty still remains elusive as ever... SB's appeal is diverse attracting large gatherings of MicroSoft "slaves" to goths, S&M fetishists, grunge rockers, hard core bikers, mods and rockers. Sure to offend and entertain all. Paved the way for Seattle's new crop of gothabilly bands, by being the first in it's genre but far from limited to it! _______________ Many talented musicians have recorded with SB throughout the last 6 years, including "Yva Las Vegas" of Sweet 75 - with Kris Novoselic (Nirvana) and Bill Reiflin (Ministry). Also, Joey Adams (Lita Ford & Andy Williams), played keyboard, accordion, bass, and guitar. __________________________ SB were featured in The Surreal World Saga and the Interactive Salon Betty PaperDoll on imusic.com in 1995 ~ "Internet Killed The Videostar" on imusic Internet Radio, 1995, coining the now popular Gen-X term. In 1997, Salon Betty had a farewell to Seattle show at the infamous Moe's and Betty moved back to Europe to finish digitally re-mastering the "Arizona" CD.____________________Now Betty X has turned her fulltime attention to her own solo project-"Betty X"- with Vinnie Saletto programmer/composer (The Genitorturers) industrial tinged Angelo Badalamenti/David Lynch dark jazz mixed with Rob Zombie and Thrill Kill Cult for good measure. Also, a new wave electronica side project "Plastikica" also on mp3.com. Brian "Buddha" Castillo-has also gone on to pursue his own solo project "pFrenz-C" with Jarboe (The Swans). |

Press Reviews
"If Scully and Mulder popped a tape in the player, cruised off on an alien craft to a rockabilly sock hop, and tossed back a few martinis along the way, Salon Betty would write their soundtrack. Inspired by bands like the Cramps, the B-52s and the Thrill Kill Kult, this is electronic retro wave for adventurous and intoxicated listeners." Riffage.com___________________ "Betty X is the best - post-Cramps, Lene Lovich, retro hot avante-garde here..." Annie Vox for NakedPoetry.com._______________"Internet Killed the Video Star is an industrialized-parody of the 80's pop hit, Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles. The single stands as a statement about today's "infallible" technology." Hmm. Well, you can download this single by Seattle band Salon Betty. Nice to hear there's more than just "grunge" coming from that city." prolific.org __________________"One magical piece of the day belonged to the sexy Seattle-Prague Salon Betty, who came as space aliens. When they performed on stage, they fairly hypnotized the crowd, and the people filled up the proscenium corral to dance topless and frenzied in the grass. Salon Betty is destined for stardom." by Fredric Kahler S.G.N (excerpt from a front page review of the Freedom Day Rally with SB and Sweet 75. More than 30,000 est. in attendance.)___________________"Their music is a mixed cocktail: one part Cramps, one part B-52's, and a pinch of Thrill Kill Kult for bite." Athena Aguilar KGRG Radio_______________"The Cure for Seattle's Grunge!" Jamie Hook The Stranger.__________________"Campy genre-hopping female vocalist and would-be Superstar slinks around being sexy in that middle aged, " beehive hair-dos are still funny" manner that was so popular back in 1990. Expertly played violin and "mockabilly" guitar lend support." Mike M. for Listen.com._______________"Shakin' up the scene of late." Johhny Renton for Seattle's Rocket. Salon Betty-____________________"Salon Betty went from local Seattle odditity to international phenomenon not only for their music but for the lead singer's avante-garde art/performance art and persona."
